Tonight's scheduled Chamiilionaire concert at Louie's Backyard will go on despite the current rainy conditions on South Padre Island, Louie's manager Joe Ricco said. Louie's is a mostly outdoor venue and concerts typically take place on a floating stage on the bay.
"It's on. It's happening," Ricco said about tonight's concert featuring the Houston rapper. "He (Chamillionaire) got off the plane today in Harlingen and he's in the car and on his way here."
Thunderstorms are projected to continue throughout the night and winds might reach up to 13 miles per hour, according to AccuWeather.com. It's unclear whether tonight's concert will take place in a covered outdoor stage or in one of Louie's indoor sections.
"We're working on it now and fixing the set-up," Ricco said Monday afternoon as the showers started.
The Chamillionaire concert is this week's first major Spring Break music event on the island. The Grammy Award-winning rapper is slated to perform at 10:30 p.m. Maryland power pop band All Time Low will perform at Louie's Tuesday night.
