‘Sounds of Summer’ kicks off in San Benito

Tunes by the Trail in San Benito will be starting the summer off by presenting "The Sounds of Summer" on Friday, June 19, showcasing San Benito's very own 512 Madrid, a group of guitar-playing, songwriting brothers whose music is reminiscent of Los Lonely Boys meets America.

Also part of the group are Troy Fonseca and George "The Wolfman" Jacobs. When asked about their genre of music, the brothers say they play 512 style. Also playing will be the new group called "Triple Threat and the Girl," and finally the public will get to hear the original sounds and songs of Flor Loera, who has composed some super original country hits.
During this event we will be accepting canned food or monetary donations for the San Benito Food Pantry.
The public is invited to come out to the Heavin Amphitheater located in the Heavin Resaca Walking Trail off 77 Sunshine Strip in San Benito.

The event is scheduled to run from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 19.
Admission is free and you can bring out your lawn chairs and picnic baskets. The Amphitheater does have seating for a bout 200 but also has a grassy area located at the top of the seating area where people can sprawl out on a blanket if they wish to do so.
Finally, plans are in the making for the July "Tunes by the Trail" which will showcase high school age students who would like to perform for the public.

Any high school student or recent graduate interested in participating can call 241-1967. We are looking for any students who can sing, play an instrument, dance or act. Groups are also encouraged to perform. Comedy skits and even magic shows can perform. This event's purpose is to showcase all our young talented performers. The planned date for the July show is slated for sometime during the last week of July.
