ArtWalk announces open call for RGV artists

Call includes a design for McAllen ArtWalk logo.

McALLEN- The McAllen ArtWalk is proud to announce an open call for Rio Grande Valley artists to submit artwork for the
2008-09 ArtWalk season.

The open call includes a design for a 5th Year Anniversary logo for  the McAllen ArtWalk. The logo should capture the excitement,
creativity and sense of community that is felt during the ArtWalk season. Best logo award is $200.

The ArtWalk is also looking for artwork for 3 postcards that will be printed to promote the 9 months of the season. These postcards will
be printed for fall, winter and spring. Best Postcard award is $200 per postcard.

Guidelines:

Submitted art must be original and created/owned by the artist  submitting the work. Artwork should fit a 1:1.5 inch ratio (6" x 9" preferably). Please  account for 1/4" trim. Artwork must be able to scan or photograph well for reproduction. Subject matter does not necessarily need to fit seasonal themes but is recommended (Fall, Winter and Spring) Artwork may include the following ArtWalk dates or provide space for text to be superimposed on the artwork. (Sept. 5, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7) (Dec. 5, Jan. 2 and Feb. 6) (March 6, Apr. 3 and May 1) Any digital artwork must be at least 600 dpi, jpg or psd format and  convertible to cmyk. Deadline is July 15, 2008 for all submissions.Deadlines will be posted at: www.mcallenartwalk.com

Deadlines for both logo design and postcard artwork is July 15th at  5pm. Please deliver the work to: Attn: ArtWalk Open Call, Manichaus, Modern Art Space, 1301-B North Main Street (facing Maple Street), McAllen, Texas. Do not mail work as it can be damaged in transit.Mailed submissions will not be mailed back.
