The inaugural South Padre International Music Festival will reverberate across the Island as more than 60 bands coverge upon local venues this weekend.
With top acts such as Jaguares, Robert Earl Keen, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Reckless Kelly, Plastilina Mosh, Grupo Fantasma, Los Amigos Invisibles, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Jumbo, Patrice Pike, Mike Doughty and others, the festival offers an eclectic blend of international styles that vary from Americana, blues, bluegrass, rock, hip-hop and Spanish rock.
While some artists have name power and international fame, other groups promise festivalgoers a chance to witness bands on the verge of greater recognition.
The three-days of concerts start Friday and conclude Sunday with a gospel brunch and jam and a performance by The Gospel Silvertones.
With 13 venues throughout South Padre Island, the music festival will take full advantage of many of the town’s most popular beach and bayside bars, restaurants and hotels. During the festival, the Island’s free shuttle system, The Wave, will provide routes to the locations.
