9/11 film fest out to expose

Second annual festival works to honor fallen, reveal alleged U.S. conspiracy

MCALLEN - Ever wondered if Sept. 11, 2001, was a conspiracy?

Russell Dowden, editor and publisher of Weird magazine has. In order to share his view, he has put together the second annual 9/11 film festival.

The film festival allows Dowden and others to honor the memory of the people who lost their lives during 9/11 and to expose what they see as a government conspiracy.

“We’re proponents of 9/11 truth,” he said. “We’re not dumbed down by the lies of the Bush administration. The conspiracy is that there is conspiracy behind the government and the Bush administration. At the very least the Bush administration was negligent….”

The three films that will be shown at Cine El Rey support that argument. "9/11 Mysteries," "9/11 Press for Truth" and "Zeitgeist" all question whether the government had involvement in the 9/11 attacks.

"9/11 Mysteries" is a 90-minute film that uses demolition evidence and analysis as well as testimonials to debunk the myth that planes caused the collapse of the World Trade Towers.

“The 9/11 picture is not one of politics or nationalism or loyalty, but one of strict and simple physics. How do you get a 10-second 110-story pancake collapse?” the movie’s trailer asks.

"9/11 Press for Truth tells" the story of a small group of activists’ struggle to find answers and peace after 9/11. The activists came to rely on Paul Thompson, a citizen-journalist, to paint a clearer picture of what happened during 9/11.

“He stitched together thousands of rare overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences into a definitive Complete 9/11 Timeline (published by HarperCollins as The Terror Timeline),” according to the movie’s trailer.

“Press for Truth" is adapted in part from his acclaimed work, which revealed to the families a very different picture of the road that led to the attacks and the resulting War on Terror, one that still today raises important and pressing questions.”
