Bar Hottie Contest

Rules

Phase 1 voting period for female category is March 28 to April 16. Phase 1 voting period narrows the female contestants down to 8 semi-finalists.

Phase 2 voting period starting with 8 female finalists and 8 male finalists will be conducted from April 18 to June 4. Voting periods are Friday through Wednesday each week. One vote per e-mail address per day.

Each week during voting phases the least vote getter(s) for both male and female categories will be eliminated until the overall female and male winner is chosen.

All nominations and photos submitted become the property of the Valley Morning Star and are subject to review and approval before being used and/or accepted as a qualified nomination. Limit one nomination per household and per household per day. Voters must be 21 years of age or older and a legal U.S. resident. Void where prohibited by law. By participating, nominators agree to these official rules. Bar Hottie contestants must be employed by a bar or club in the Rio Grande Valley during this promotion/contest. One prize winner (for both male and female bar hottie) will be selected by reader votes. Top male and female bar hottie will be announced June 20, 2008. In case of multiple nominations for a particular barstaffer, the first approved and accepted nomination received will be used to identify the nominator eligible for a prize.

First place bar hottie in both male and female categories and their respective nominators will receive prizes. As a condition of receiving the prize, the winners must provide valid photo identification, proof of residency and proof of employment at a Rio Grande Valley club/bar. The winners may also be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and liability release, and other legal documents including tax forms, before receiving the prize. If a winner does not sign the documents or fails to meet any of the eligibility requirements, an alternate winner will be selected and the alternate winner will be subject to the same requirements.

Associates of the Valley Morning Star and all other Valley Freedom Newspapers and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

Immediate family includes spouses, parents and children. By entering this contest, you release the Valley Morning Star and all other media associated with this contest from any liability in connection with the use of the prizes and consent to the use of names, photographs, likenesses and biographical information for advertising and publicity purposes without further consideration.

The Valley Morning Star reserves the right to correct typographical or printing errors in any contest materials. The name of the winners will be announced in print and online or can be obtained by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope with the request after June 20, 2008 to:
